You have one chance to download a smokin' aud, which one would it be?

A no brainer: 11/8/70 The Ken & Judy Lee version.

Tough call. 8.6.71 is the one that comes to mind first. However 6.9.77 might be the one I would go with. http://www.archive.org/details/gd77-06-09.akg-bertrando.winters.26450.sbeok.shnf

I pulled this list from somebody's blog, can't remember who otherwise I would give credit where credit is due. I've added some as these types of questions are asked. Enjoy.

This and only this AUD should be the one (8-6-71), and it isn't even 68, so you know (???) I am being objective.

Wineland has it right.

This is the one...

Hi Tell. I am sure you know, but the March 68 AUDs are very well done. These are the ones that made the list. Any worth listening to?

3/26/68 - Melodyland Theater - Anaheim, CA
3/29/68 - Carousel Ballroom - SF, CA
3/30/68 - Carousel Ballroom - SF, CA
3/31/68 - Carousel Ballroom - SF, CA

Well blow me down! I don't have a clue, but will check them out given your advice. I have the 30th, lossless, I think, but none of the others (and I don't have any AUDs in my collection, save for 8-6-71!? What a snob)...of course, I tend toward summer and fall 68, but don't tell CLIFF.

Hope all is well with you Cliff.

"Out 68'eighted" but at least by CLIFF...oh well, you too, Wineland...couldn't have happened in a better way, I suppose...

Until StSt comes along, 68 just lags abit...but still beats most any year...

That's it? I thought I would raise your hackles with a snide comment like that about your beloved 68.

I haven't listened to them in a while, but I think the 30th was my favorite. Check out the Born Cross-Eyed into Spanish Jam.

Seriously, even a SBDsnob will enjoy these. Not perfect, but really nice. And you can get the lossless files since they are AUDs.

All in good humor of course. Do you have a St.St. that is a personal favorite? Looking for a good 68-69 show to listen to today.

I like the Avalon ones (fast), so you cannot go wrong with 10-12-68; then, I really like the slow one from 9-19-70.

Those two are my favs--both are great quality.

Then, there is the one that hurts CLIFF's ears (mine too), but 6-14-68 is a must--very poor recording, but Jerry plays it like it is on the album, Aox, and everyone that loves this song, MUST hear it at least once...he cooks.

Enjoy!

Was the 9.19.70 supposed to be 9.19.68? Thanks for the recommendations!

Nope--I jumped ahead because I think of the five phases of StSt, the 9-19-70 is by far the best of the slow ones...

Spring 68: "Album" version (6', but uptempo, only one available; June)
Fall 68: Transitional version (4', ends to WT bridge)
Winter 69 to Fall 70: Slow version (6', two drummers, TC, etc.)
Winter 71: New slow version (5', one drummer, no TC, etc)
Comeback (76 and on) version (6', Donna, very slow)

Excellent. Thanks for the breakdown. I am not a fan of the comeback 76+ versions. It never had the right sound. I'm off to listen to the 70 show now.

I think history proves that Jim Wise knew what the hell he was doing. Wonder who that guy is. Funnier than hell though. Shows a real TRUE side of shows. Love it
